The Horizon Difference

Data Sanitization Methods

At Horizon, we view the entire workflow as critical in ensuring data security. From the moment we arrive at your facility to decommission your hardware, the serial number of each device is recorded in an asset list that we validate against the information you provide.

Rigorous Workflows

Our data sanitization workflow requires system-level validations by individual drive prior to movement to the next workflow stage..

DATA SANITIZATION

The Horizon Wipe Workflow

Secure Transit

A serialized asset list is created and compared to the list provided by the data center. Drives are securely palletized and serialized pallet IDs are recorded. Each drive is logged by individual serial number from time of pickup and tracked as it works through the workflow. We offer onsite solutions for sensitive situations.

Rigorous Process

Our proprietary approach to data sanitization is both granular and comprehensive. System-level checks verify test/wipe results by individual drive before moving to the next workflow juncture. A final system level outbound audit is performed by individual drive prior to drives leaving a Horizon facility.

Compliant Asset Disposition

Drives that are not recoverable or are contractually required to be destroyed will be physically destroyed, rendering data unreadable. Our results meet or exceed all local, state, and federal environmental and data security requirements and standards.

Serialized Certification

All material processed by Horizon requires serialized test and wipe results. Upon final disposition, serialized certificates of data wipe and drive destruction are generated for all processed drives and other hardware that do not meet the requirements for reuse or are contractually required to be destroyed.

Industry Certified

Our customers and suppliers expect nothing short of excellence. Our workflow is R2v3 and ISO-certified, ensuring industry and transaction compliance. Our wipe process meets NAID and NIST 800-88 data sanitization standards and adheres to certified best-in-class practices.

Customer-Centric

Our workflow is a closed loop process that provides full traceability and uncompromising security, ending with a documented certification of data sanitization or destruction. Our finance-friendly solutions are customizable to your operational needs and workflows.

Uncompromising Security

Our workflow has multiple system-level checks and balances, ensuring that a drive cannot leave a Horizon facility without being tested and wiped. The thoroughness of our verification process touches every aspect of your storage media, safeguarding your organization’s good name.

HDD and SSD

Our solutions are available for a wide range of electronic storage media, with complete HDD & SSD sector verification. We employ a multi-step process using our best-in-class wiping tools followed by a scan of the drive to ensure it is free of data.

Hard Drive Testing

When it comes to testing, we stop at nothing.

Test Protocols

Hard drive testing with Horizon utilizes a variety of test protocols, including customer specific test scripts. We test all hard drive and solid state drives, including interfaces such as SATA, IDE, SCSI, SAS, and Fiber Channel (FC).

Test Criteria

Test includes but is not limited to: Write Patterns, Read Patterns, Drive Self-Test, Inspection of SMART Data, Seek, Spin, P-list (Primary), G-list (Growing), Verify, HDD documentation.

Test Documentation

All test results are serialized and recorded within the Horizon testing database. Certificates of compliance are provided. Test process is detailed in the Horizon Quality Process Manual.
